Dizengoff itself is a Ponsonby institution and has seen many other cafes and restaurants come and go in its time. The Dizengoff Classic is equally established as one of Auckland's iconic eats. Probably 10 or so years ago I was sat on the popular tables on Ponsonby Road with a coffee, when Jay Z and Beyonce arrived to be seated two tables across from me. I'd only initially planned on a coffee, but when I saw them so close I ordered myself the Classic and extended my stay, hoping some of their celebrity would rub off on me. The cafe and this dish will always have a place in my heart.
