"There's nothing more Auckland than K'Rd, and there's nothing more K'Rd than Sneaky Snacky. Tucked away in a random foot court that I swear has been there forever, the first time I was dragged there I was beyond hungover. My eyes were quickly drawn to the Vanilla Coke cans, glistening with a refreshing sheen. After downing one in a few gulps, the sugar hit brought me back to life and I was ready to order. Wasn't much of a choice really though, since the person who dragged me down there insisted on this glazed donut chicken burger. Sounded revolting to be honest. But they had enthusiastically proclaimed it would be their shout if I didn't love it. We sat at a table awaiting our order, dodging the swooping pigeons. You really don't come here for the ambiance, let's make that clear. The Vanilla Coke mixing with remnants of last nights antics, I was more than starving at this point. Finally, our number buzzer thingy went off and our gorgeous red tray arrived. Most of the time when you're unwrapping a burger, you kinda know what to expect. Beef, cheese, sauce, maybe some lettuce - it doesn't leave much to the imagination. But when you unwrap the hot chicken donut burger it's a lot to take in with your eyes alone. I'll never forget that first bite. It's actually kinda hard to describe, and probably explains while it's taken me this long to get to the point. Yes it's got that sweet salty balance nailed, but the chicken itself is the best Nashville style chicken I've even eaten. Tender doesn't even cover it. And then the dill mayo really just sends it over the edge. The glazed donut is pretty soft and delicate, so you have to get underway pretty quick if you want to make it through without it collapsing in on itself. I was happy to oblige. Hands down the strangest, most delicious thing I've encountered in Auckland. "
