Oyster Inn
Kahawai Mousse
Awarded by Victoria Toon
This dish is our "go to dish" every time we visit. I understand this dish survived the change in ownership to Josh Emmett because the locals made it known there would be consequences if it was changed. The humble kahawai, sourced from local waters, is so delicious made into an unassuming mousse (no new flashy Waihekian types here!) Served with sublime pickled onion & celery and toasted sour dough. Simple food beautifully cooked and presented. At just $20 this substantial dish is outstanding value and just goes to show you don't have to spend a lot to eat well on Waiheke.
