A Bite of Guangzhou
Claypot Rice

This place 老广州 A Bite of Guangzhou is a Hot Pot, but the iconic dish here is it’s humble claypot rice. Claypot rice is a speciality served in Guangzhou where the rice is cooked till crusty with meat like lup cheong sausage, shiitake mushrooms, chicken and preserved meat. It takes skill to prepare this dish - having it on the stove for just the right amount of time, so that the rice is not burnt but just crusty with a smokey flavour. There are several good places for hot pots around. Clay pot rice on the other hand, there are just two or maybe three other places that I can think of that serve really authentic ones here. A Bite of Guang Zhou is one of them. In general people come to this restaurant for it's hotpot, but it's the claypot rice that's the draw card for me and the many who appreciate this Cantonese comfort dish.
