The dish, the moment, the best.... It has to be the special pho at Try it Out Otahuhu!! Try it Out has been feeding the South Auckland and the immigrant community for years - their food is so homey, authentic and delicious. As a 1.5 generation, Try it Out reminds me of our own family food business, from the setting to the service, to the food, everything is so nostalgic. For my partner who is Vietnamese, it reminds him of home and lets him share a piece of his culture with me. I love being able to go here with a small or large group, eating all their dishes, but especially the special pho. The noodles are delicious, chewy and unlike anything else we've tried in Auckland. The toppings of raw beef, meatballs, tendons, tripe - all so random but work together so well. And the piece de la resistance, the egg yolk in the middle of the bowl. It's like a star that you top on the Christmas tree. Just not complete without it. No doubt this dish is my iconic eat in Auckland and I hope they never close!!!!
