Sugar Cafe at Chelsea Bay, at the Chelsea Sugar Works in Birkenhead is pure edible heaven. The Chelsea Sugar story has been part of the New Zealand's food story since 1883 when the Chelsea Sugar Factory was built and you can now visit the site to fully immerse yourself in this incredible story. The site has been transformed in to a great whānau brunch spot, with lots of room for kids to play, lush gardens and walkways and stunning views. Add to that some classy and unexpected menu items, the sugar factory exhibition, and the selection of Lamingtons... it's what sweet dreams are made of.
